Our Soulful Beginnings

My name is Alesia Miller. I am the founder and CEO of My Soul Brew Kombucha, Wisconsin’s first black-woman-owned kombucha tea brewery. My Soul Brew was founded February 14, 2019, out of a sheer desire to share my healing with the world. We stand on INCLUSIVITY, promote WELLNESS, create CULTURE and we are the brand you can TRUST. Our story starts with access and ends in triumph.
We are the maker of raw and organic small-batch, sparkling kombucha tea, hand-crafted to appeal to the health-conscious consumer looking for a delicious alternative to other sugary drinks. We currently produce and distribute seven soul-satisfying flavors brewed with locally-sourced ingredients.
So Why Kombucha?
In 2018, a trip to the doctor’s office changed my life. I left the office feeling defeated - I’d been told my acid reflux would cause damage to my vocal chords and that I was on the verge of being diabetic. Something had to give. I knew medications were not the right solution for me, so I sought out an alternative. As life would have it, a Facebook post tickled my curiosity and pushed me into the world of Kombucha. My sincere desire to heal naturally ignited a passion for brewing diabetic-friendly, high quality, and delicious kombucha with a story to tell.
There is an untapped market of consumers who are excited by a healthy, non-alcoholic, well-balanced, keto, vegan, low-sugar & calorie life all while supporting the ‘buy black’ & buy local movements. Their buying power alone is well into 2.5 trillion dollars. Furthermore, there is a large market of kombucha regulars looking for variety - both in flavor and source. We seek to be their first choice because our kombucha is good for them and tastes great too. People want something they can believe in. My Soul Brew Kombucha’s local success will give them just that-a brand they can identify and grow with. We would love to partner with you on this journey.

The Soul Brew’s Promise
We promise to provide a premium hand-crafted, small batched kombucha that is good for your partners and tastes great too. Understanding Diabetes in America
Diabetes is a growing health concern in the United States, affecting millions of individuals across all racial and ethnic backgrounds. According to recent statistics, over 34 million Americans live with diabetes, with prevalence rates varying among different communities:
Caucasians: 7.5%
Asian Americans: 9.2%
Hispanic Americans: 12.5%
African Americans: 11.7%
American Indians & Alaska Natives: 14.7%
These disparities highlight the need for increased awareness, early detection, and access to healthcare resources. Minority populations often face higher risks due to genetic, socioeconomic, and lifestyle factors. Addressing these challenges through education, better healthcare access, and community-based initiatives can help reduce the impact of diabetes across all populations.

Diabetes and Its Impact on African Americans in Wisconsin
Diabetes is a serious health concern, particularly for African Americans, who face a higher risk of developing the disease. In Wisconsin, there are approximately 370,000 African Americans, and 67,000 have been diagnosed with diabetes. This means that a significant portion of the community is affected, highlighting the need for awareness, prevention, and support.
Studies show that African Americans are 60% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes compared to other populations. Lifestyle choices, genetics, and limited access to healthcare contribute to this increased risk. One of the key factors in diabetes prevention is diet—consuming just one sugary drink per day increases the risk of developing diabetes by 26%.
Taking proactive steps, such as making healthier food choices, staying active, and getting regular check-ups, can help reduce the risk and improve overall well-being. Together, we can raise awareness and work toward a healthier future for our communities.
